Australian artist Shona Underwood is originally from the Northern Territory. Her life started in the rugged and remote location her family called home in Outback Australia.

The artists understanding and knowledge of the outback and its characters is deep and detailed. This is recognised through her accurate and powerful work.

Underwood’s multi dimensional facets show in her artwork. The unconventional artist will not be confined as she practices several different genres. She is a designer for one of the worlds larges online cosmetic companies and her outback scenes are as raw as the harsh and unforgiving land itself. Her interests lie in fashion, history, culture, horses and characters of the outback and she expresses them with accuracy in physicality, energy and spirit.

She is always growing and reinventing herself as an artist and designer and is now on the world stage.

I did not realise until recently that I am painting my life... where I have been and who I am. I cannot just paint one thing, one story. That is not me... I am not one story. My identity is not straight forward. I am a child of the land, a barefooted bush kid; and I am a modern woman who has seen the world and embraces fashion, design and the city as well as the rugged and dusty outback and its people, my people. This is who I am. This is what I’ll paint.
